A cash prize of Rs 10,000 was awarded to Mr Bhutia along with a certificate and memento.

NUEPA award for Yuksam HRD Officer.Deputy Director of Human Resource Development Department, under Yuksam Sub-division, West Sikkim, Pema Gyaltsen Bhutia was awarded with ‘National Award for Innovation in Educational Administration 2016-17’ at an award presentation function held at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, New Delhi on 08 Mar.

The award was presented by Minister for Human Resource Development Department, Government of India, Prakash Javadekar.

Every year, National University of Educational Planning and Administration [NUEPA] which is the leading University in Educational Planning and Administration, recognises and gives National Awards to the District and Block level Officers for innovation in Educational Administration.

This year, a total of 120 applications from all over the country were received.Out of 120 applicants, 78 applicants were short listed for the National Award and finally 20 officers from all over India were selected for the National Award.

Mr. Bhutia thanked Joint Director [West] for supporting and appreciating the innovation carried out by him and nominating him to represent West District for the award and also thanked Principal Secretary-HRDD and other senior officers for forwarding the nomination to the NUEPA.

A cash prize of Rs 10,000 was awarded to Mr Bhutia along with a certificate and memento. Mr.Bhutia informed that the cash award will be utilized in buying books for Reading Corners under his subdivision.
