SYVC (affiliated) Gangtok is entirely devoted to the development of physical and mental well being through yoga and meditation. As a part of our campaign to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga and meditation,SYVC Gangtok took part at a health awareness program conducted at Mechanical sub-division engineering workshop, dept.
of roads and bridges, lumsey,Gangtok on 22nd march 2017 with a hearty wish of a true gentleman Mr.Sameer Gurung,AE,who was accommodating, understanding and a man of good humor. The entire program was a joy with his presence and the Superintending Engineer as the chief guest.
The area consists of heavy machinery and construction equipments which pose health risks due to pollution so,Mr.Gurung in part approved this program in order to spread awareness and inculcate healyhy habits which would improve the health of the employees.
this is just one of his many steps in overlooking the general well being of the employees working under his supervision. The program was attended by dentists and a doctor from the State TB Cell.,Dr.Bhawana Rai,who delivered a speech on awareness of tuberculosis which remains an alarming scenario in Sikkim and emphasized on precautions, healthy diet, prevention and early diagnosis and treatment of TB.
She also spoke on the current trend which shows rise in drug resistant TB.in Sikkim.Mostly people underestimate the need for mental well being, when this is equally important if not more.one cannot do without the other but it can be said that a strong mental disposition can indeed supersede physical health.
This is why yoga relies strongly on breathing techniques which not only relaxes and trains our mind to be more patient but also helps us to think clearer and be more focused.this is why yoga is started with breathing which prepares us for the successive physical exercises that follow, and close the session with breathing exercises and meditation which will mentally and physiologically prepare us to end the session.
Yoga has gained universal momentum and benefited the lives of many in the process. It is a field that many have not yet explored but the art of yoga itself rests on the mottoprevention is better than cure. For within this art there are exercises or asanas as traditionally termed in yoga.
