1.Tara Devi was known as the"nightingale of Nepal"having recorded over 4,000 songs during her lifetime.

2.Tara Devi started singing at age of seven. When she was 5 years old,she went to Radio Nepal and got the opportunity to sing.She was primarily involved in singing for children's programs at Radio Nepal.She was able to pursue her musical career along with her studies.She completed her Bachelors in Music.

3.Initially,she would earn Rs.5 per song at Radio Nepal,which eventually rose to Rs.100.She was appointed as a Kharidar at Radio Nepal and was later promoted on to be Secretary during her 30 years of long commitment to Radio Nepal.

4.Tara Devi lost her 25-year-old son to blood cancer.Soon after,her husband died in an airplane crash.She was unable to recover from this tragedy and she herself was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease which put a halt to her singing career.On January 21,2006,she died a peaceful death at the age of 60.
